Africa's best-performing football club will be known tonight in Cairo, Egypt, as home side Pyramids FC take aim at South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League final in a winner-takes-all situation.

The final will be played at the 30 June Air Defence Stadium in Cairo. Kick off will be at 8 pm Kenyan time.

Since it is a two-legged affair, the previous fixture between the clubs saw them play out a 1-1 draw at Loftus Versfeld Stadium two weeks ago.

Lucas Ribeiro Costa scored Mamelodi Sundowns' only goal in the 54th minute, with Walid El Karti equalising for Pyramids in the 94th minute.

Two players who have caught the eye for Pyramids in CAF Champions League play are Ibrahim Adel and Fiston Mayele.

The duo are the team's joint top scorers with five goals, tied for the lead among the competition's top scorers in 2024/2025.

Sundowns have been led by Peter Shalulile and Iqraam Rayners, who have scored three and two times, respectively, in this season's CAF Champions League.

Hosts Pyramids have been perfect at home this CAF Champions League season with five wins in five contests at 30 June Air Defence Stadium, with 20 goals scored and 5 conceded.

Pyramids FC will be out to prolong a 23-match home unbeaten streak in all competitions, making it a tough test for Sundowns.

In matches on their travels in the competition this season, Sundowns have one win, three draws, and one loss. The South African side are looking to add to a four-match away unbeaten streak.

Midfielder Tebogo Mokoena and defender Malibongwe Khoza have both expressed belief in the squad’s ability to overcome the Cairo challenge, with Khoza declaring:

"We know what we will do to win, we know how they (Pyramids) will play, and we know how we will exploit the spaces," he told CAF media.

It promises to be an engaging encounter with a full capacity crowd expected at the Stadium to support the home side.
